That question has a set of answers.

Originally I started out playing one harp for two reasons:

- Because I didn't have the money to buy loads of harmonicas.
- Because I felt I should learn to play one harmonica well before moving
on to others.

As I did this longer other reasons started to emerge:

- although I had gotten a few other key harps because I had played so
much on a c harp I started to feel very akward when I tried to play a
differently key harmonica, the notes where just in the wrong place.

- as I was learning I started to believe that it would be possible to
play on just one harp.

- my interest in jazz grew and I believe that beeing able to play all
keys on a single harmonica is very helpful in beeing able to play over
complex changes.

- I came to the conclusion that for me the only way to learn to play in
12 keys on a harp was to stick to one harp and not "cheat" by changing
harps for difficult keys.

And at a certain point I had gotten so used to doing this that there was
no going back.

- Other key harps freak me out.
- Playing one harp is just what I do and people better start accepting
it.
- I would sooner stop playing and become a singer than play chromatic or
multiple key harps.

The weird thing for me is that some people seem to think that doing what
I do is some form of heresy and that I should change my ways or burn for
my sins against the instrument.
I can't quite figure out what it is they are affraid of.
