RE: [Harp-L] Practice amp and mike question

Rob,

The Audix Fireball V (V for volume control) is a very versatile harp
mic. Built especially for harp and it's very feedback resistant. It
sounds great clean or you can get some good dirty blues from it cupped
(not as dirty as a good bullet but there are other ways to add that
'dirt'). Heck Charlie Musselwhite uses one and he's got a great dirty
chicago sound. He had Audix modify it to add more bottom end/bass
response, so if you get one, get one of the newer (V) models, don't get
one of the original ones without this 'musselwhite' mod. So if you want
to sing through it or play cleaner stuff like irish, rock, etc this is a
good mic for you.

Actually I have one of the original Fireballs, a very rare gold-plated
one (they are normally black wire mesh) and it has the Musselwhite mod.
I'm thinking about putting it on ebay because I need to come up with
some cash. But I didn't say all that in the first paragraph as a sales
pitch, no matter where you get it from I think this is a good mic for
what you are describing.

Subject: [Harp-L] Practice amp and mike question

Hi,,I need a portable practice amp and mike.....I am looking for
something versatile since my style ranges from irish to chicago. I have
been a closet player and will soon be performing at small venues. I
wonder if i should get 2 mikes anyway....a vocal and a bullet type...any
suggestions?..Thx
