Interesting thread... couple of comments, and then I'll go back to
lurking: what's missing in this discussion is the effect of your mic on
the sound you get. For example, a silverface Deluxe Reverb is not
generally considered a great harp amp (or so I've heard), but I've
played through one with an Electro-Voice RE10 and it sounded good to me.
I think good sound samples would not only include an above-average
player using different mics, but also variety of sounds... dynamics,
single notes, blocked chords, trills, high-end stuff, maybe lower keys
and higher keys, etc. All in the same tune of course :-)
