Haha, that is so funny. Wild Rover, and they will even request it again after
the break. Once is not enough. The late bunch, already drunk as they come in,
will shout the request again at 15 minutes to midnite...
triple treat ladies and gentlemen, triple treat.....
Best is to have a drunk stand in singer with the last one... always good for
a laugh....
Mind you, I've never played anything Irish myself, but this scenario is a classic, as
seen many times. From the audience it all looks fine, so musicians don't worry...

Every pub player of traditional Irish music has come across the phenomenon
whereby your hard-won, top quality reels and jigs get a lukewarm response,
if any at all, whereas "Black Velvet Band" and "Wild Rover" invariably go
down a storm, no matter how badly you do them. Aargh!
