[Harp-L] PA settings for 545
I'm looking for any tips on PA channel tone control settings for
playing a harp thru a shure 545s straight into the PA (a la
Butterfield) - i have mainly played thru bullets or JT30s into an amp
(currently blues junior) and for these I have the settings around bass
12 (highest) with treble and mid turned right down to 1. It's a very
long time since i've not gone thru an amp.
Tomorrow's gig I'll be without my amp. A good chance to give the GB
and JT-30 a rest and take the 545s (good enough for PB should be good
enough for me!). It will be straight into the PA with no effects
(don't own any).
Should i try to reproduce my usual amp tone settings on the PA? I'm
expecting there to be the usual treble, mid, bass and gain controls on
the PA channel (which is hired). That would mean down on treble and
mid, up on bass and probably a touch of gain but not too much to cause
feedback problems (at least i have the on/off switch on the 545). I
play fairly similar stuff and style to Butterfield and like a pretty
compressed sound usually. This should come from the cupping etc.
anyway. I'm not fixated on trying to sound just like PB (as if) just
hoping you might have some tips to get a reasonable sound that will
save me a set and half of experimenting - twiddling the controls.
Thanks, kevin.
