How many of us are at that level?
Of course, those that pay $ for tickets to see Miles would have wanted no vocals, knowing full well what to expect.
Those playing on a few levels below Miles in venue and fame will find that, unless they are something STUPENDOUS about to be discovered, vocals are an important part of connecting with the audience.
My smooth jazz band does a pretty good job w/out vocals, but people do comment that they would enjoy it more if there was a singer on a few songs.
