I saw on the coast to coast site that the Audix fireball mic with a
volume control is considerably cheaper than without - why is this? Is
there any other serious difference between the 2 mics?
Is this a good mic to play harp with when playing direct to the PA
(not through an amp)?

Don't know why the V version is cheaper, but it's got the improved
element in it with more low end, so is a much better sounding mic.
I've played direct through a PA with it, and also recorded direct with
it, as well as through various amped setups. It's a very nice and
versatile mic, and it produces less feedback than any other mic in my
collection.
