National Harmonica League
SPRING FESTIVAL
Saturday May 20th 2006
"The Red Lion"
High St., Knowle, Solihull .
B93 0LY
10am-11pm.
This year's event has followed the popular format of previous years, a full day of workshops followed by an evening concert. It will provide a chance to meet old and new friends, in addition to providing many opportunities to play, and learn more about the world of the harmonica. We have as always tried to cater for all musical tastes and abilities.
The ever popular and much admired Jim Hughes, one of the very finest chromatic players, is to conduct a workshop aimed at beginners.
Ricky Cool, by popular request, is to demonstrate acoustic country blues style on the diatonic harmonica.
Gerry Ezzard, our very efficient League treasurer, and a fine chromatic player will be presenting a workshop, details of which to be arranged.
Paul Gillings, former World Diatonic Champion, will be demonstrating chromatic techniques on the diatonic harp.
I am personally delighted to announce that Paul Lamb, front man of the fabulous Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes, (if you have not seen them yet, YOU MUST!) will be coming along to host a workshop and demonstrate his amazing talent. Paul is without doubt one of the finest blues and country blues players in the world! His skill and ability with both the diatonic and chromatic is amazing.
Also in attendance will be Laurie Garman, formally of "The Yardbirds"; and the very talented chromatic player Carole Axford. This is the list of names so far. But if past festivals are anything to go by, you never know who else will turn up on the day!
Steve and Joan Noon of "Eagle Music" will be providing the trade stand displaying their extensive range of harmonicas , related accessories, and other instruments.
After a short break , the evening concert will begin. Ricky Cool's band will be there, with the talented and versatile Chris Collis on keyboards, to support the performers.
The ticket cost is £10.00 for NHL members , and £12.50 for non-members, including the evening concert. Non-members who join on the day will pay the reduced ticket price. If you wish to book in advance, send a cheque made out to the "National Harmonica League" to:
