He's going to be honored as part of San Jose Blues Week May 9. He's getting a 
proclamation and who knows, maybe the key to the city, or to the highway. I'm

San Jose, CA-90.5 FM KSJS, the Associated Students of San Jose State 
University and the City of San Jose are proud to announce the first annual âSan Jose 
Blues Weekâ, Tuesday May 9th through Saturday May 13th. 
This event recognizes the 26 years of the âMetro Fountain Blues Festivalâ 
created by the Associated Students of San Jose State and the musicians, club 
owners and fans that comprise the San Jose blues scene. This inaugural event 
honors San Jose Blues legend Gary Smith, known as the âGodfatherâ of the San 
Jose blues scene, for his contribution and inspiration to the arts putting San 
Jose on the international blues map. 

âSan Jose Blues Weekâ (âSJBWâ) features events at JJâs Blues Club (located 
at 3439 Stevens Creek Boulevard in San Jose, (408) 243-6441, www.jjâsblues.net
) and San Jose State University. âSJBWâ features homegrown talent like Rene 
Solis, Nitecry, Lara Price and Laura Chavez from the Lara Price Band and Shane 
Dwight, with exotic blues acts such as the Woodleg Odds from Norway that 
derives their name from their drummer who lost part of his leg.
