[Harp-L] Modding the Bushman Torpedo
I don't post very often, but I thought I needed to mention something about the Bushman Torpedo. I'll preface it by saying that overall, I like the mic and own two of them. It has been great through the PA as a vocal mic and clean harp mic. But sometimes, as I've seen others say in different places, it just needs more juice through an amp. I had the same thought and called Steve Warner of Thunder Harp Mics. He said he could take care of it so I sent it to him.
Last night Steve called me to let me know he was finishing it up and wanted to demonstrate the difference over the phone. I'm not exactly sure what he did to it, but WOW, amazing difference. Deeper tone, tons more output and grit. It had that tone that I always have in my mind. Not exactly like a CR Green Bullet, not exactly like a 545, but somewhere in between.
I know people have tried a lot of different things with the Torpedo if they want a hotter output such as hi impedance transformers, but whatever Steve did to this thing it is amazing.
This is the first time I've ever dealt with Steve, actually saw his name on Harp-L and thought it was worth a call. It sure was.
