[Harp-L] Ain't No Sunshine good tune for blues bands

In my last band we had to play a lot of places that were not stickily blues only
venues. In order to survive we had to include other types of tunes.
Ain't No Sunshine is one the tunes we put in our set.
I've heard other blues acts include this in their sets also.

Part of how we did it goes like this:
I put the harmonica solo at the end of the song.
I got the idea from a Quincy Jones record where he
had toots do his solo at the end.

I just had the band vamp, and played away..
To end I would just signal the band.

My improv processes goes like this:
The tune is in a minor so that gives us
a lot of choices.
I liked to use the natural, and the harmonic minor.
The melodic minor ascending is not a choice for me.
The color is pushing it way too close to major for my personal taste.
Other choices: The A blues scale works great.
A dorian works great. Though when I use the a dorian I like to start on f#.
I just like the color it gives the music. This would technically be f# locrian .

My signature ending: aminL7 9 a lot of people have different names for this chord
the L7 means major seventh. So there is no confusion these are the notes:
a c e g# b lots of color. I like to ride up the chord in a toots eighth note fashion.
Sometimes I hang on the major seventh just to wake up the band.

One side note:
We had some background vocals that we used harmonica and voice working together.
This is a great illusion.

On this tune I used a chromatic (cbh 2016)

My thoughts on diatonic harmonica positions.

Three off the top of my head are:
a minor on a C major diatonic
a dorian on a G major diatonic
a blues on a D major diatonic
