I own an EV 630 that I use when I want a cleaner sound than a crystal  (JT30) 
or controlled reluctance (Shure GB). The head is the same circumference  as 
my favorite EV 605 (smaller than an Astatic JT 30 or a Shure Green Bullet),  
but the mic is a bit heavier due to the hinged lower portion where the on/off  
switch is contained. I had a Switchcraft female plug installed which accepts a  
standard guitar cord. This replaced an older 4 pin plug.
 
The EV 630 is a nice all around mic, the on/off switch is a plus. Be sure  
you like the sound with the existing mic element as it is near impossible to  
substitute a different element due to the large diameter retaining screw that  
holds the face of the mic to the body of the mic.
