  Actually speakers run on AC. You're sending the music signal to the speakers, it has to be AC to move the speaker cone back and forth to create sound waves, right :-)
   
  The polarity mark on speakers is just so you can get the phase right if you have more than one speaker in a system. If you were to connect the two speakers in an amp with opposite polarity, one speaker would be pushing air at the same time the other was pulling air. They would tend to cancel each other and your sound would be bad.
