[Harp-L] Speaker Polarity. I meant ONE spkr
I should have went further by saying that only one speaker has no polarity since the OT is AC. I you don't believe me then contact someone who actually builds speakers for a living and you'll hear the same thing. Your stating the in and out of a speaker is correct. Yes, in multiple speaker setups you need the same polarity.--- On Sat 04/08, gregnospam < gregnospam@xxxxxxxxxxx > wrote:From: gregnospam [mailto: gregnospam@xxxxxxxxxxx]To: harp-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx: Sat, 8 Apr 2006 12:58:52 -0700Subject: [Harp-L] Speakers and polarity> From: "steve" > Date: April 8, 2006 11:29:29 AM PDT> To: harp-l@xxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re:[Harp-L] Pro Junior problem update> Reply-To: mudharp@xxxxxxxxxx>>> Steve said "Speakers are AC devices and they have no polarity.".....This is not true. Although they will work no matter which way you connect them, there is polarity as it relates to the direction of speaker cone excursion. Whenever multiple speakers are used
together, or even in the case of a microphone diaphragm and a speaker cone, polarity does indeed matter. If you have 4 10" speakers in a cabinet, and two cones are moving in as the others are moving out, you end up with "phase cancellation" and you lose a huge amount of bass. The cones all need to travel forward and back at the same time. _______________________________________________Harp-L is sponsored by SPAH, http://www.spah.orgHarp-L@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx://harp-l.org/mailman/listinfo/harp-l
