I love the Boss DM-2 but I've been using the Line 6 Echo Park which I think has a great analog delay simulator. I keep both in my pedal board and switch off when appropriate. ie last night I played a straight up blues gig and used the boss instead because the tone is slightly rounder but I don't think anybody knew except me. I generally use the Echo Park on the Tape Delay setting and will change over to digital delay for rock ballads and what not.
