The background info for analog vs digital and all the
various digital formats is longer than most here are
willing to go into.
Think of it in terms of tube amps vs solid state amps.
Folks here are willing to praise the "warmth" and
"full sound" of a tube amps.
It is much the same for audio recording. It is more
than frequency range and sampling rates.
