[Harp-L] Pro Junior

Hi Folks,

I just bid on a Fender Pro-Junior on EBay and was wondering what others here
might have in the way of experience with this amp. I am probably going to
be outbid but I can pursue it if I want it. I'm interested in it because if
it's small size. Since I now have band practice to go to, I'm getting tired
of schlepping my Holland to and from the drummer's basement and I want a
small practice amp. I tried one of these amps out at Guitar Center a couple
of days ago and here was my experience. It was feed-back city even with my
Kinder unit. I couldn't get the volume past 1 and 1/2. I had to leave the
tone all the way down too. So, I came back with a couple of 12AU7s and
swapped out the 12AX7s (they let me do this) and it sounded pretty nice for
a small amp; not as much bottom end as I'm used to but still a pretty good
tone. I still couldn't do much with the tone control but I'm not too
worried about that. My Boss equalizer pedal might be able to pull up some of
the bass tones it there are any. I'm aware that the Pro-Junior has a solid
state rectifier so there isn't going to be much I can to about the lack of a
sag envelope.

So is this little amp worth fooling with? What do you all think? I know this
am is popular in the studio but that's with guitars and is a whole other
story. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.
