Thanks to everyone for the advice on my mic queries.

On the question of cheapo Chinese sourced Shures.... I emailed an ebay 
seller and asked for a bulk price... he quoted me exactly the same price per 
unit for SM57s, SMSM58s, Beta 57As, Beta 58As and SM87As. Since the 
recommended price for an 87A is almost 4 times that of a SM57.... and he's 
offering them at about one/twentieth price.. I think we can draw our own 
conclusions about the genuineness of what is being offered.
