[Harp-L] Re: Ten Questions
Since Bill Houle brought it up, I'll take this opportunity to note that I started the Pro Pages for exactly the reason described by Randy -- to create a series of snapshots of important facts about major harmonica artists -- their favorite harmonica records (which usually turns out to include the stuff they listened to when they were first learning to play harp and music), the instruments and gear they use on stage and in the studio, and their discographies. Players on these pages provide their own answers to the same 5 questions, and I edit their responses very lightly -- what you get is what they said.
As of right now, profiles for the following 12 players can be found at the link provided by Bill below (http://www.hunterharp.com/propage1.html):
Jimmy Gordon
Mike Stevens
Rob Paparozzi
Kirk "Jelly Roll" Johnson
Clint Hoover
Julian Jackson
Tom Ball
Dennis Gruenling
Robert Bonfiglio
Carlos del Junco
Brendan Power
Annie Raines
Lee Oskar
This is not a comprehensive list of great players now working, but it's certainly a world-class collection of players in a wide range of styles. Anyone who reads through these interviews will have a very clear idea of what the leading players in particular genres listen to and play through.
I was very proud when Brendan Power told me in his interview that he read the Pro Pages to see what gear other pros were using.
Thanks,
Richard Hunter
