Re: [Harp-L] Shure mics, SM57 or 58? (SPECIAL NOTE )

FYI
I purchased a SM 58 from a Asian dealer on eBay, and paid like $2.98 (Two dollars and ninety eight cents )
There were no shipping or handling charges shown on the add for the Mic. I assumed it couldn't add that much . . . Wrong! After they added the shipping and handling the total was about $80,00

I thought they were being deceptive so I canceled the purchase.
As it turned out, they were removed as sellers by eBay. So maybe I was luckier than I knew..
Just a word of warning.....

Anyone have a view on which of these is better/easier for playing through? Does the 57 require you to play more directly into the mike.. rather than over and around it? Is there a benefit in the differnce in sound?

Also on the subject of Shure mics.... they are available on Ebay at ridiculously low starting bids, emanating from China and Hong Kong... the suspicion being that these are fakes. The problem is that it undermines confidence in buying a Shure from any source. Any thoughts/experiences on this?

A.
