Slim recommended some good ones, also consider Barbara Morrison at Vibrato. 
And another place you might like is BB King's Blues Club at Universal City 
Walk. Kind of 'touristy', but it can be fun.

As far as location, the Barabara Morrison show is in Bel Air, about 6 miles 
away from the Beverly Hilton, while BB King's club and Phil Upchurch (in 
Venice) are about 10 miles away.
