Re: [Harp-L] Nose flute

I've always called it "flageolet narine." My jug band co-conspirator did a very nice version of the "National Anthem" on his flageolet. Jimi Hendrix would have been envious.

i have some serious concerns about the decline of
nose flute in modern music. without prompt action,
it may even become extinct. the root of the problem
is that it shares the same name with the lesser instrument
known as simply, "flute". this is confusing to audiences,
as they fail to see the differences in the two instruments.

i propose henceforth that the nose flute be given sole
claim to the name "flute", and the lesser flute be called
a "bass piccolo".

let it be so.
