[Harp-L] Re: Pig Nose Amp?

The Pignose amps drive too much for my tastes. I went for the ElectroHarmonix "Freedom Amp" which has a cleaner sound. I get a "grind" out of it by technique on the mic. Or you can use the "Bite" control.

It's sorta touchy for harp. But it has a great sound. (And looks good, too.) Helped Darrell Mansfield set up on the streets of Portland with this amp; we added another for an AWESOME sound! Big, fat, plenty of volume.

Although in my review and experience I call it "touchy", it seems to be more flexible, as headroom goes, when used with a volume control equipped mic.

And a sound clip is linked off that review.

Hope this helps, Don.

I think the pignose hog 20 is great, long battery life, reasonable
volume for this purpose. If you can, pick up a harp commander to give it
some better harp/blues tone but it really isn't needed if you're good
enough.
