[Harp-L] Harmonica cover plates

Several people lately have asked me why do I use Hohner MS "Blues Harp" cover
plates, when there are many more substatial and much more expensive cover
plates available for the Hohner MS diatonic, particularly on custom harps.
Well, first of all I like Hohner reed plates, particularly the up market
"Meisteklasse" electro plated ones... But I don' t think much of the Hohner
combs... The "Dousie" wood combs are an improvement on the old HM Pearwood combs,
but they still swell... The plastic combs are OK... but not wonderful, The
alloy combs are OK too... but they are simply not as good as some of the custom
stainless steel, titanium, or plated brass combs....
However I just LOVE "Blues Harp" cover plates.. Why? Because they SING!!!
They are thin, and I can feel the music in my hands as I play!
What I want from a diatonic harp is a stable comb, wonderful reed plates, and
nice thin cover plates....
OK, my favourite MS Blues hHarp cover plates have been silver plated, that
makes them play faster, because they slide better!
Just my 2c worth!
