Hey Chris,

I caught Jason here in Denver on Sunday afternoon,
May 8. Yup... Mother's Day.

Jason said he was tired, but as usual put on a
stellar, kick-a** show. For a Sunday afternoon the
place was PACKED! Lincoln's Roadhouse is such a
biker-dive, but word has gotten around Denver just
how good Jason and New Blood are, so there were a
whole lot of non-biker types there too -- including
local musicians. It was wall-to wall.

There must have been 8 or 9 local harp players in
the house. You could tell who the harp players were
because we all had our chins on the floor for most
of the show. :-)

Jason told me afterwards that he had wanted me to
sit in for a song (he actually appologized). But
since there were so many harpers in the house, he
didn't want to make anyone feel bad who might not
get asked up, so he didn't ask any harp players up.
Good move, Jason. No need to appologize... people
didn't come to here me play anyhoo.

He did, however, ask a local, well-known, female
blues singer to sit in for a song... Bad move,
Jason.

The woman (who shall remain... ~cough~ nameless)
really can sing, but was apparently deep into her
cups. What an obnoxious inerlude THAT was. I could
tell that Jason was embarrassed at the screaming
she apparently thought was singing, and by and her
incessent trash-talk. The crowd breathed a sigh of
relief when she finally stepped down.

Jason is so gracious on the road, and such a
powerful talent. I hate to see him get burned like
that in my home town. But, pro that he is, he took
it in stride and totally killed for the remainder
of his show.

On the plus side, Jason told me that he was going
to spend a day in a studio here in town and get
some stuff recorded. He asked my guitar player (who
came to the show with me) if his guitar player
(Shawn Starsky) could borrow his Fender Deluxe for
the studio gig. Not sure if that actually happened,
but I'd very much love to hear what comes out of
that session.

Hey Jason, if you read this... stay safe on the
road, bro!

Harpin' in Colorado,
