[Harp-L] NHL Spring Festival - Sat May 14th - UK
Time to start planning the trip, and maybe car sharing. Last year's event drew a lot
of people and this should be even better.

Saturday May 14th, 2005.
9:30am - 10:30pm
A full day of workshops is again planned for this year's festival. Jim Hughes
and Gerry Ezard will give us the benefit of their experience on chromatic. Laurie
Garman, formally of the Yardbirds, Ben Hewlett, Duncan Moules and others will be
presenting a workshop on diatonic techniques. With such an impressive list of
contributors, there will be no shortage of help and advice.
After a break for a meal, the evening concert will get started about 6pm. It
will feature some of the artists listed above, plus Four in Accord, Ernie Gordon and
Philip Achille. Ricky Cool will be performing with his band, who, along with Chris
Collis, a superb keyboards player, will be on hand to support all styles of
performers. Anyone attending the festival, members and non-members alike, will have
the opportunity to perform in the concert.
There will be plenty of opportunity throughout the day for socializing,
free-play, and jamming, so bring along your harmonicas. Eagle Music will be setting
up trade stands and offering their wide variety of harmonica, CD's, tapes, videos,
instruction material, etc., etc. Food and drink will be available throughout the day
and evening (licensed bar) , and there is ample car parking space.
The venue is best reached via the M42. (You are strongly advised to avoid
travelling through Birmingham city centre!) Leave the M42 at junction 3 and take the
A435 Alcester Rd., signposted Birmingham. Stay on the A435 and follow the signs for
Kings Heath. The venue is actually situated on the A435 . After approximately 4 miles
look out for a big pub on the left called The Kings Arms. The entrance to the Cricket
Club is approximately 150 yards past the pub on the right, opposite Livingston Rd.
If you are travelling by public transport from Birmingham city centre take the
number 50 bus from the stop opposite Moor Street railway station. The bus stops right
outside the venue.
The tickets are £10.00 each for members and £12.50 for non-members. The price
includes entrance to the evening concert. Payment on the door.
