Whether you snipe or not, don't let your competitive spirit rule your head.  
A while ago I watched in amazement as a second-hand harmonica that's easy to 
buy new (a SP20 in C) sold for several pounds more on eBay than you would 
have paid for it brand new in a shop, and that didn't include postage.  More 
recently, when I was after a mini-amp, I saw a few of those going for silly 
prices too.
