I use a 93' Fender Blues DeVille and love it. Barbeque Bob tells me it's
pretty close in sound, to the original Bassman. Bullfrog

I need a new amp but can't come up with the bucks for a bassman re-issue.
Anybody use a Hot Rod Deluxe or a Hot Rod Deville for Harp?

Hi,
Just make sure that if you do get one, that it's the onw with the tweed covering and the blue painted alnico magnet speakers (which were the exact same speakers that the Bassman RI's were using at the time) because that version is the most harp friendly. The ones that began using the ceramic magnet speakers and the Hot Rod versions are not anywhere near as harp friendly without some serious tweaking (NOT tube subs in this case), with the biggest difference being the speakers. The early ones have a much simpler circuitry, and the simpler the circuit, the better they are for harp. Because of the reverb circuit in there, they're a lot heavier in terms of weight than a Bassman would be.
