probably already been answered, but anyway in regard to the 5 limit JI
tuning that Hohner used on the older harmonicas:
1] Is that the same scheme that Herring is using on the Vintage model?
Yes, but it was 7LJI
2]Do you know what year Hohner went away from that tuning on the MBs?
In the US, it was 1985 when they when they began using 19LJI
3]Do you know why they changed?
Because of demand from players who just started getting newly available
cheap tuners who didn't know allk the different tuning schemes, but the main
reason was that the diatonic was now being used in areas that was once the
sole domain of a chromatic, with rising use of bends and later overblow
techniques, and playing them in more than just the 1st 3 positions, largely
in non-blues settings.
