I have a 59 bassman RI and i will do that can i do the same with my fender blues jr. this is my practice amp.

Yes it does work, Just change the first tube as you look at the back of 
the amp (standing behind it) ,  the one furthest to your right. Put in 
an AY7 or an AU7 and you should get a better sound  and be louder 
before you start getting feedback.
