Subject: [Harp-L] Re: Butterfield amp on ebay
I just got off the phone with Gabe Butterfield. Seems the guy that
is selling Paul's amp on ebay used deceptive tactics to borrow it
from Gabe and then ran off to CA. with it. He was not a friend of
Paul's as noted on ebay. Paul had him removed from a venue he was
playing. Paul could not stand the guy. There are 2 case numbers (CA
and NY) against the guy for stealing the amp. Unfortunately the
statute of limitations has run out on retrieving the amp even though
it was stolen. The amp is also not all original as mentioned. The
guy had work done to it. Gabe called the phone number that is posted
on ebay. The guy hung up on him. The amp rightfully belongs to the
Butterfield family and PBFS which is the non profit Gabe set up to
collect and archive Paul's musical legacy.
Gabe asked that no one bid on the amp. He is trying to come up with
funds to buy the amp so it can end up back with the family. Seems
the only way for him to recover the amp is to buy it back from the
guy that stole it.<sigh>
