I've used them both. Try this. Use reverb on blues, especially hard core Chicago style. (Gosh, Little Walter and the Chess producers used it to great "effect" on many discs.) Try delay on experimental stuff, pop, jazz, New Age, California rock...you get the idea. I agree, totally "dry" usually sounds, well - dry.
