[Harp-L] DM2 versus reverb

The Boss DM 2, and I have owned 15 - 20 of them over the years, was a very
good analog pedal. The word analog on a pedal does not mean it is better, just
go to any music store and you will see that for yourself. It is a PERSONAL
taste, so for one person to put their personal liking, depending on what style
they are personally performing to say one is better than the other, does not
make overall sense. I Personally do not think the DM2 is the HG of any
pedal, or I would still own one. I am a Boss dealer, and have access to every one
of their pedals, plus trying all the vintage ones over the years. Currently I
use an RV 5 Boss Reverb pedal, with the Hall and Spring settings giving just
enough reverb effect to where it does override the full sound of the amp you
want. Their RV3 was a disaster, which when I told them as they tried to get
me to try the RV5, their explanation was they had to go further towards
digital to actually get an analog type sound. That is from Roland Corporation, I
don't know how or why that is, all I care about is how it sounds. The DD3 and
DD6 are a bit shrill and not pleasing for my taste, I just like a little
effect as would be on the recordings, and live you lose what your amp is putting
out be getting some of the notes being sucked up by the rest of the musical
instruments on stage playing at the same time. That's why doing individual
sound checks with each band member sounds fine, then once they all start and you
don't have an effect pedal, and they are increasing their volume as the set
is progressing and you are struggling to hear the notes you play, it is good
to have something in line. Reverb tanks have a preamp built in so effect the
tone also with the effect. Most pedals will have a slight effect by being in
line with the signal , the least the better. Personal taste. Sorry, but of all
the clips and links to everyone's sights I have not heard anyone with such a
varied tone that they blew like William Clarke yet still had the touch of
Charlie McCoy. We can try, but all we are trying to do is improve our own
PERSONAL sound. It seems that all these discussions do at times is drive up the
price of vintage items for no reason, the only ones benefiting are the guys
with this stuff sitting in their basement, working or not, and sell it "as is"
to us tone junkies, self included.
