[Harp-L] diifference in keys

Hi-

I'm only playing harp for a couple of months-got inspired by Jerry Portnoy's ad in Blues Revue, and I've been practicing hard-I'm a reformed trombone player, so very familiar with tongue and embouchure shape, etc.

My question is how the reeds are different in the different keyed harps. If the low G harp is the same size and shape as, say, the high D harp, how are the reeds shaped differently? The D harp has shorter ( or narrower?) reeds?

A bass trombone, even if in the same key as a tenor trombone, is obviously bigger-wider bore, etc.

But all the different sized harps seem to be the same size-so, can you explain how it works?

thanks,

bill
