[Harp-L] new song

Hi all.. I wanted to share with the Harp-L community a new track that will be on my forthcoming CD. It's called "In the Court of King Oliver"... it's the only cover on the CD and was written and originally recorded by Wynton Marsalis. It can be found here:

I recorded it in New Orleans on June 30, 2005, at Word of Mouth Studios (engineer -- Tim Stambaugh). It features some of New Orleans' finest musicians, including Johnny Vidacovich ("one of the greatest drummers in the world" according to the New Orleans music magazine Offbeat) on drums, Jason Stewart (the first-call upright jazz bassist in N.O. and a member of the house combo at Snug Harbor) on bass, and Mike Hood (one of my best friends in New Orleans and one of the finest musicians on Frenchmen Street) on keyboard.

This track was cut live with no overdubs; what you hear is exactly the way the cut was recorded. There is also a slower alternate take of the song which has a very different, mellow feel; I like the pace of it a lot, but I felt that the performances were a bit "unfinished", and that it didn't hang together quite as well as the faster take. If I can get myself and the other players in for some overdubs, I may include it as a "hidden" track on my CD. (By the way, the original version of this song is on Marsalis' album "Standard Time Vol. 3 -- The Resolution of Romance". It has long been one of my very favorite jazz songs, and I was thrilled to be able to record it in New Orleans.)

Any feedback at all is appreciated greatly. Thanks very much for your time...
