Re: [Harp-L] Dixieland Jazz Harp?
Back about 5 years ago... at SPAH in St. Louis.. I walked into the hotel
lobby and heard this great dixieland music playing. Four guys sitting around
playing. Most of the melody work was coming from a guy who was running thru a
little amp, not loud, just amplified a little. If my memory is correct, his name is
George Martin.. He was, I believe, 82 years old at the time and he could play
his chromatic and sound like Pete Fountain. He does have at least one CD,
though I doubt it's available through any commercial outlet. I'm sure others on
the list will know more about him than me.
