re-: [Harp-L] Portable Recorders
i do a lot of portable recording, There are some new options on the
market now, even some kind of new small hard drive recorder designed
specifically for the live concert taping enthusiast, it is quite
amazing and has EVERYTHING a taper needs. But it is a little pricey and
has too much for my needs.
My personal choice for the easiest is the mindisc recorder-- you can
find them at various internet portals. Mindisco.com has some nice ones
and they have an optional excellent tiny stereo mic that plus right
into the unit that I purchased. You can get better quality with a
larger mike, but then you need the adapter, etc. I just like the
convenience of a small mic with good sound. Or you can record straight
into the unit from the board. The last song on my cd HARMONICA DREAMS
was a live show with a 8 piece band on a huge stage that i recorded
using a mindisc player. On the cd, the quality of sound between this
live minidisc recording and the rest of the cd, professionaly recorded
was not vast. The minidisc recording was clear enough to put on a
commercial cd.
My favorite minidisc player is the Sharp 1 bit portable recorder.
Regardless of what one you get, make sure you can adjust the input
level of the mic easily from the front of the unit instead of having to
navigate thru a menu system. This makes adjusting the mic level a
breeze. I also love the AKAI portable, it was the easiest to use, but
only available, i believe on Ebay
good luck,
r.

Happy 4th,
I am hoping someone can help me out with a recording question? I would
like to record myself everytime I play at either a jam or a gig? What
kind of nice little portable recorders are available. Can anyone help me
on this with their own experiences and trial and errors? Thanks Kevin
Keith
