It's not just you.
A and regular G harps don't cut through the mix
as well as higher-pitched harps - There is a danger of flatting out
from playing harder in the attempt to hear yourself -
They tend to sound muddy on fast runs -
but A and G harps
provide a sound you can't get with higher pitched harps.
E is of course a great key for guitarists, so you'll probably be
playing in E your whole life -
can you adjust your style when you use an A or G harp?
More sustained notes?
Listen to LW back up Muddy in E.
And hang in there.
The more you play with A and G harps, the better you'll be able to hear yourself.
Honest.
