[Harp-L] Sonny Jr. Amps (Was '59 Bassman)

Warning: unsolicited testimonial of a raving fanatic: When Sonny says 
"its more than the tubes" - he is correct. I have played trough the 
original Bassman, a couple of re-issues, and the new Bassman Limited, 
which is much better than the RI, but not as good as the original. But 
none of them come CLOSE to my Sonny Jr. Four-Ten. Sonny has paid so 
much attention to detail to match the original '59 as a starting point 
(finger-jointed pine, point-to-point wiring, NOS oil/paper caps, etc) - 
and THEN went further to tweak the amp for harp, with tube setup and 
speaker selection, and who knows what other magic he works.  Some amps 
I've owned had a sort of "sweet spot" - a level of playing that sounded 
good. But drive beyond that, or back off to fill behind someone else, 
and the sound just went away - too quiet, too flat, or too harsh. With 
the Four-Ten, there is NO sweet spot - it sounds good no matter what. 
Play soft, play loud, play clean, play dirty - it just sounds 
wonderful. ever since I started using it I have been approached 
frequently by people complementing me on my tone, or musicians inviting 
me to join their band. That didn't happen much before. I'm not being 
paid to advertise these amps, all I can tell you is - you can tweak and 
sub and chase that "perfect" amp for a long, long time - and you may 
never be happy. Or, you can fork over the buckaroos for this one and be 
done with it. Personally, I wanted to NEVER use my amp as an excuse for 
my tone, or lack thereof (know anyone who does that?). I freakin' love 
the amp. I've never heard another Bassman/Bassman clone come close. In 
other words, "stop your subbin', start your grubbin, and getcher order 
in!"
