RE: [Harp-L] Re: Hound Dog harpers

I believe there is a track on the "Chess Blues" 4 disc boxed set that has Hound Dog playing with a harp player. The player sounded like Big Walter, although I can't remember the liner notes at the moment. Anyone else familiar with this set? The track was recorded approx. 1966-68 i think.

There is one song on Volume Three of the American Folk Blues DVD series that
has Little Walter backing up Hound Dog. It isn't anything spectacular,
IMHO. The booklet that comes with the DVD echoes what you read in the bio
about how LW hated playing with Hound Dog because HD only played in the key
of E (tuned his guitar in open E). That would get boring, wouldn't it?

Still, this and another with him backing up Koko Taylor are supposedly one
of the few extant videos of Little Walter. Just seeing him play sends
shivers up my spine! Which is just as well, 'cuz there is little in the way
of what you might hope for in his playing in these videos. They were
recorded at the very tail end of his career (and life). So sad...
