[Harp-L] Admin out of office auto reply

I don't post much as an actual user these days so I'm often the last to
know if someone has an out of office auto reply set up. Please do let me
know if you post to the list and get an out of office auto reply I'll
very happily set that harp-l account to nomail. If you're out of the
office and come back to no harp-l the first thing you'll need to check is
your subscription settings. nomail is easily reset and you don't need me
to do it.

One of the things that consumes the most time of my time as a list admin
task is checking all the held posts for legitimate post that need to be
sent on to the list. I don't think I'll be able to continue doing this
forever. There are just too many spam bounces these days. Either we'll
have to buy some memory and install spam assasin or some posts will just
never get here. The number one reason mail doesn't make it to the list is
that it's sent from an unsubscribed address. The number one reason an
address isn't subscribed is that the person posting is reading us on yahoo
groups and thinks that belonging to yahoo gets you posting privileges.
Yahoo users, remember to please subscribe your yahoo id to the actual
list, harp-l.org. It's fine to set the account to nomail.

On another yahoo note, the original harp-l offsite group was set up at
e-groups. It's still a listed yahoo site. It does not work and now
contains zero posts. It has innaccurate information that has confused at
least one member. If anyone knows who owns that darn group I'd like to
know. Only the owner can delete the group. Yahoo won't talk to me about
theis problem, g has also invested time in this. It's a very frustrating
situation. Hugh Messinger if you're out there and know who owned that
e-group drop me a line and help me out.

Finally as always thanks for being such a well behaved group. It's a
pleasure to serve as listowner in such a decorous group, the absence of
rancor is remarkable. I'd also like to mention that I'm just the public
face of harp-l. Ironic isn't it, 3 letters is the public face? Anyhow
the list would not exist in it's current format without the ongoing
support and input of Ben Nathanson. fjm harp-l-listowner
