A slight correction, Garry. It was guitar slasher god Steve Vai who played
the devil's guitar player. Ry Cooder was playing the guitar (behind the
scenes) for Ralph Macchio in that guitar head-cutting contest scene. In
your quote, John Lee Hooker was saying that Ry whupped Steve Vai. I agree!
