[Harp-L] demos for gigs

I have been part of bands and have gotten gigs here in NYC, here are a few of
my thoughts:

-Clubs are often willing to take a chance on you, they will often give you a
gig blindly. Not always a paying gig, but they will give you a half hour set
or more.

-my friend has a poorly produced demo, he gets regular gigs in the village

-Demos are nice, but do they really show who you are ? Bottom line is:
1. What do you sound like live?
2. What is your fan base? How many of your people will come to your show
night after night?, week after week?
3. How many drinks will sell at your gig?

I think demos showcase producing, writing, arranging etc, and are much more
important for things other than getting gigs in small clubs.
