It sure is. At $200, it's a little pricey too, but if you want a
full-blown pro multi-tracking program it will give you enough to work
with for years.
On the other hand, for the same money you can buy a Digitech RPx400 amp
modeler, and it comes bundled with Pro Tracks, a very nice program from
Cakewalk that will do 16 simultaneous tracks of audio.
I think Chris owns the RPx400, maybe he has some comments on Pro Tracks?
On the free side, Audacity is a good product, does WAV and MP3. It and
other good freebies can be found at www.kvraudio.com. Cakewalk also
makes Music Creator, which handles MP3 and WAV files and has good
editing tools, for only $39. In a commercial program, that may be the
least expesnive choice.
Finally, if you want maximum bang for the buck, a lot of pro-level
soundcards -- some, like EMU's 1010, selling for as little as $100 --
come bundled with recording software. Buy the soundcard, get the
software free. The better soundcard will also make your music sound
better.
