And Chris Michalek, AOTD, wrote that I have one or more of each and
that I might comment.
I do, and I will, but while I have played vintage 545s for many years
as my main microphone for amplified playing, I got my first RE-10 just
a couple of weeks ago and haven't played it much. I'll give you my
initial impressions, though. The RE-10 seems to have more bass
response than the 545 and a smoother treble response. The smoother
treble response might or might not be to your liking, depending on your
tonal preferences and how it interacts with your amp.
I've been playing my new RE-10 through my Tweed Harvard, which can get
trebly with the 545 even with the tone control all the way down. The
RE-10 smoothes things out beautifully, and I can get amazing bass out
of the single 10" speaker. For 98% of the notes I play, it's a better
mic for (1) that amp given (2) the way I play and (3) the way I like to
sound. But there's a glorious "jangly" sound I can get from the
Harvard and my 545 when I lean into a draw note and let in a little of
an adjacent note that I haven't been able to cop with the RE-10. The
"sparkle" is just not there to the same extent.
This is all very particular to my situation and is very subjective
besides, but I hope it helps a little.

p.s. I've only played this one RE-10. I bought it used, and it show
signs of having had a hard life. Another RE-10 might sound very
different.
