Where do you think that "Holy Grail" tone came from?
Back "in the day", blues bands played through small amps, drummer used small
kit, no one was going for VOLUME to force their music across. They went for
SOUL/GROOVE/INTENT.
Mic'ing every amp, each drum/cymbal, mixing through a MAIN with seperate
MONITOR mixes for each band member - that's the norm in the 21st Century. No
wonder it is so hard to recreate that intimate sound of yesteryear.
