Hey Sam,

Try purchasing a Multi-voltage AC to DC adapter with a switch in the 3.3 to 
12 volt range from Radio Shack or any other consumer electronics business.

Take the batteries out of your unit and under-power one step at a time.

DO NOT go above nine volts on any battery operated pedal unless you are 
willing to buy a replacement...

This method is not especially safe, but I've found that it IS effective...
