Although the link at his site that shows PT's setup no
longer seems to be there I remember something that to
my mind was unusual. Pt didn't follow the full setup
for half-valving that you normally see. Nothing on
holes 1 and 9 (and maybe 10 but I can't remember). Now
for someome with such command and control of the
technique I'd expect hole 1 valved; extending the
insruments range without any increase in physical
dimensions. The valved bend on 9 would provide an
enharmonic; maybe not as important but still useful.
Hey I'd even valve hole 7 to allow deep blow bends.
Any reason not to?
