Mr. Ricci (I'm nasty) and I believe that if players only learned how to
master the 6 OB (minor 3rd in cross) their blues playing would expand
greatly. You don't have learn bebop licks or play everything on 1 harp, just
add the octave of the expressive blue note that is 3 draw 1/2 step bend.

This afternoon, during the most fun jam session of my life, I was trading
4ths with a sax player and a *sick* guitarist and we were taking turns
copying each other's riffs and trying to come up with something the next guy
wouldn't be able to play. I managed to hold my own pretty well until the
guitarist played a phrase where that minor 3rd was really important and I
couldn't convincingly substitute the 3 draw bend in time or hit the 6 OB.
Consider me converted. Time to start working on OB's in earnest. This
could happen to anybody, so make sure you're ready and when the time comes
you won't have to surrender to a guitar slinger.
BTW, the guitarist's name is Justin Joyner; if you're in the Albany, NY area
I'd recommend that you check out one of his shows sometime. To be honest
he's a far better musician than I am and would've blown me away eventually
no matter what, OB 6 just would've delayed it a little. Enough writing for
now, studying beckons. Good luck to any other Harp-L college students out
there who still have the final exam blues!
