[Harp-L] Popping amp noise (was Mechanically challenged in search of answer)

Dennis,
Before you go yanking caps (can be costly, ie $100), check the simple stuff: in my experience, popping can herald a fried preamp tube(cheap, ie $12).  So one at a time go through and put a known good/ fresh 12AY7 (or your favorite preamp tube) in the phase inverter slot, preamp slot, etc..  If that doesn't get it, try fresh Power tubes. Then on to caps if needed.  Please let us know what the culprit was!
